Confirmation Paperwork

Congratulations on taking this step in your faith! By choosing to follow Jesus, you choose a path of wisdom, blessing and true happiness. We are happy to accompany you on this journey, and we pray for you!

A Few Things to Know First

·       There is no need to worry about the paperwork. Priests all over the world are used to receiving requests like this. People move to other places and later need documents from the parish where they were baptized. This is quite normal! You will not surprise your parish priest by asking for these documents.

·       Please start collecting these documents as soon as possible. Communication between parishes in different countries can sometimes take longer than expected, so it is best not to leave this until the last minute.

·       If you have any questions or difficulties obtaining these documents, please speak to us. We will try to help you.

Please submit the following documents and information:

1. Baptismal Certificate

Submit a Baptismal Certificate issued by the parish where you were baptized. The certificate may be in Latin, English, Italian or Polish (of course! 😊).

2. Confirmation Sponsor

Please submit:

·       The full name and age of your chosen Confirmation sponsor.

·       A certificate or letter from the parish where your sponsor lives, confirming that they are eligible to serve as a Confirmation sponsor.

·       In English, this document may be called a Letter of Eligibility or Sponsor Eligibility Certificate. Your sponsor's parish priest will understand what you need. We accept any wording, as long as the letter confirms that your sponsor meets the Church's requirements for serving as a Confirmation sponsor.

If you are not sure what to ask for, simply show your parish priest this information.

To be eligible, a sponsor must:

·       Be baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church and have received First Holy Communion.

·       Be at least 16 years old.

·       Be a practicing Catholic who lives according to the teachings of the Church.

·       If married, be in a marriage recognized as valid by the Catholic Church.

·       Take part in the sacramental life of the Church, including going to Confession and receiving Holy Communion.

How to Submit Your Documents

Please hand in the paper copies of your Baptismal Certificate and your sponsor's letter to the parish priest, Fr. Zbigniew Rzeszótko. You can do this after Sunday Mass or during his office hours.

To check his office hours, visit the parish website and look for KANCELARIA PARAFIALNA (Parish Office).

3. Confirmation Patron Saint

On the Confirmation preparation blog, please submit:

·       The name of the saint you have chosen as your Confirmation patron.

·       A short explanation (up to 100 words): What inspires you about this saint? Is there something in the saint's life or spirituality that you admire or would like to follow? Why have you chosen this particular saint?
